Sachin Tendulkar’s Milestones: Cricket One Day Internationals and Test Matches...

Sachin Tendulkar’s Milestones: Cricket One Day Internationals and Test Matches...

I have never heard people calling any human being a God.  Sachin Tendulkar is one such person who has been given the title of “The God of Cricket” after fetching all the titles, awards, prizes, name, fame and fortune that anyone on this earth could imagine.

Here are some of the milestones he achieved between 1989 to 2010:

1989: Playing for Rest of India against Delhi, Irani Trophy, Mumbai on November 3-7, at the age of 16 on debut, scored 39 & 103 not out, the youngest to score a ton in Irani Trophy at 16.

1990:  At the age of 17 years and 107 days he played an innings of 119 not out against England at Manchester in August and became the youngest Indian and the second youngest in the world to notch up a century in test cricket.

1991: Playing for West Zone against East Zone during the Duleep Trophy match at Guwahati on January 11-15, Tendulkar scored 159 & 8 and became the first player to muster hundred on debut in each of the three premier domestic championships.

1994: His maiden ODI hundred out of his world record tally of 45 centuries came in his 79th match, a power packed knock of 110 in 130 deliveries against Australia at Colombo in September.

1995: he notched up a dozen centuries in international cricket before touching  22 years of age, With his hundred against Sri Lanka in Sharjah ODI on April 9.

1997: He was named among Five Wisden Cricketers of the Year. This was in recognition of his superb 122 at Birmingham and 177 at Nottingham during India's Test tour of England in 1996.

1998: He amassed 1894 runs in the one-day internationals with the help of 9 centuries and 7. With his 18th ton while playing against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo, he surpassed Desmond Haynes' old record to become the highest century maker in ODIs.

1999: His innings of 186 not out against New Zealand at Hyderabad in November is the highest ever score in an innings by an Indian in ODIs and now the sixth highest by any player in the world.

2000: In the ICC Knockout Trophy in Nairobi, he became the highest run-getter in the history of one-day internationals. He eclipsed the previous best of 9378 runs by the former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin.

2001: In the Test series against Australia, he became the first player in ODIs to amass 10000 career runs. He accomplished the coveted feat while scoring his 28th century at Indore in the month of March. He did it in his 266th ODI game.

2004: Playing against Pakistan at Rawalpindi in March, he became the first player to reach 13000 ODI runs in the fastest time of 321 innings. And he celebrated it with his 37th ODI hundred - 141 in just 135 balls.

2005: He equaled Sunil Gavaskar's tally of 125 test appearances on the same ground where Gavsakar touched Don Bradman's record of 29 hundreds, Tendulkar became the highest century maker in test cricket with his innings of 109 against Sri Lanka in the month of December. This  was his world record of 35 hundreds.

2006: Playing his 359th ODI, he reached 14000 runs and becoming the only player to cross that mark. He did it with his 39th ton, while appearing against Pakistan at Peshawar in February.

2007: He capped a phenomenal outing in the one day internationals by crossing the 1000 run mark in a calendar year on seventh occasion which remains the highest by any player.

2008: During the test match against Australia at Mohali in October, he became the highest run-getter in the history of test cricket by surpassing  Brian Lara's record of 11953 runs.

2009: During his historic innings of 175 against Australia at Hyderabad on November 5, he became the first and only player to cross 17000 run-aggregate in ODIs. At the end of the series against Australia, he had an imposing tally of 29961 combined runs in all Tests, ODIs and T20 matches. He needed another 39 runs to post 30000 runs.

2010: Two major milestones which he accomplished - one each in ODI and Test - with his skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni at the non-striker's end and against South Africa. At Gwalior he became the first and only player to muster double century in ODI and now ten months later, he completed half-century of Test centuries at Centurion.

Michael Jackson and his song song "Beat it..." with lyrics

Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 June 25, 2009) was an American recording artist, entertainer, and businessman. The seventh child of the Jackson family, he debuted on the professional music scene at the age of 11 as a member of The Jackson 5 and began a solo career in 1971 while still a member of the group. Referred to as the "King of Pop" in subsequent years, five of his solo studio albums are among the world's best-selling records: Off the Wall (1979), Thriller (1982), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991) and HIStory (1995).

In the early 1980s, he became a dominant figure in popular music and the first African-American entertainer to amass a strong crossover following on MTV. The popularity of his music videos airing on MTV, such as "Beat It", "Billie Jean" and Thriller—credited for transforming the music video into an art form and a promotional tool—helped bring the relatively new channel to fame. Videos such as "Black or White" and "Scream" made Jackson an enduring staple on MTV in the 1990s. With stage performances and music videos, Jackson popularized a number of physically complicated dance techniques, such as the robot and the moonwalk. His distinctive musical sound and vocal style influenced many hip hop, pop and contemporary R&B artists.

One of the few artists to have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, his other achievements include multiple Guinness World Records—including one for "Most Successful Entertainer of All Time"—13 Grammy Awards, 13 number one singles in his solo career—more than any other male artist in the Hot 100 era—and the sales of over 750 million albums worldwide. Cited as one of the world's most famous men, Jackson's highly publicized personal life, coupled with his successful career, made him a part of popular culture for almost four decades.

Beat it: Lyrics...

[1st Verse]
They Told Him Don't You Ever Come Around Here
Don't Wanna See Your Face, You Better Disappear
The Fire's In Their Eyes And Their Words Are Really Clear
So Beat It, Just Beat It

[2nd Verse]
You Better Run, You Better Do What You Can
Don't Wanna See No Blood, Don't Be A Macho Man
You Wanna Be Tough, Better Do What You Can
So Beat It, But You Wanna Be Bad

[Chorus]
Just Beat It, Beat It, Beat It, Beat It
No One Wants To Be Defeated
Showin' How Funky Strong Is Your Fight
It Doesn't Matter Who's Wrong Or Right
Just Beat It, Beat It
Just Beat It, Beat It
Just Beat It, Beat It
Just Beat It, Beat It

[3rd Verse]
They're Out To Get You, Better Leave While You Can
Don't Wanna Be A Boy, You Wanna Be A Man
You Wanna Stay Alive, Better Do What You Can
So Beat It, Just Beat It

[4th Verse]
You Have To Show Them That You're Really Not Scared
You're Playin' With Your Life, This Ain't No Truth Or Dare
They'll Kick You, Then They Beat You,
Then They'll Tell You It's Fair
So Beat It, But You Wanna Be Bad

[Chorus]
Just Beat It, Beat It, Beat It, Beat It
No One Wants To Be Defeated
Showin' How Funky Strong Is Your Fight
It Doesn't Matter Who's Wrong Or Right

[Chorus]
Just Beat It, Beat It, Beat It, Beat It
No One Wants To Be Defeated
Showin' How Funky Strong Is Your Fight
It Doesn't Matter Who's Wrong Or Right
Just Beat It, Beat It, Beat It, Beat It, Beat It

[Chorus]
Beat It, Beat It, Beat It, Beat It
No One Wants To Be Defeated
Showin' How Funky Strong Is Your Fight
It Doesn't Matter Who's Wrong Or Right

[Chorus]
Just Beat It, Beat It, Beat It, Beat It
No One Wants To Be Defeated
Showin' How Funky Strong Is Your Fight
It Doesn't Matter Who's Wrong Or Who's Right

[Chorus]
Just Beat It, Beat It, Beat It, Beat It
No One Wants To Be Defeated
Showin' How Funky Strong Is Your Fight
It Doesn't Matter Who's Wrong Or Right

[Chorus]
Just Beat It, Beat It, Beat It, Beat It
No One Wants To Be Defeated
Showin' How Funky Strong Is Your Fight
It Doesn't Matter Who's Wrong Or Right
Just Beat It, Beat It
Beat It, Beat It, Beat It

Shisha Ho Ya Dil Ho song Lata Mangeshkar by Manshah

Shisha Ho Ya Dil Ho song Lata Mangeshkar:
- by Manshah

Sheesha Ho Ya Dil Ho Lyrics

Ho~, Aa~, Aa
sheesha Ho Ya Dil Ho -2
aakhir (Toot Jaata Hai) -4
lab Tak Aate Aate Haathon Se
sagar (Choot Jaata Hai) -3
sheesha Ho Ya Dil Ho
aakhir Toot Jaata Hai

ho~
kaafi Bas Armaan Nahin
kuch Milna Aasaan Nahin
duniya Ki Majboori Hai
phir Taqdeer Zaroori Hai
yeh Jo Dushman Hai Aise
donon Raazi Ho Kaise
ek Ko Manao To Duja (Rooth Jaata Hai) -3
sheesha Ho Ya Dil Ho
aakhir Toot Jaata Hai

(Baithe The Kinare Pe
maujon Ke Ishare Pe) -2
ham Khelein Toofanon Se
is Dil Ke Armaanon Se
hamko Yeh Maloom Na Tha
koi Saath Nahin Deta -2
maajhi Chod Jaata Hai
saahil (Choot Jaata Hai) -3
sheesha Ho Ya Dil Ho -2
aakhir (Toot Jaata Hai) -4
sheesha Ho Ya Dil Ho

duniya Ek Tamasha Hai
aasha Aur Nirasha Hai
thode Phool Hai Kaante Hai
jo Taqdeer Ne Baante Hain
apna Apna Hissa Hai
apna Apna Kissa Hai
koi Lut Jaata Hai
koi (Loot Jaata Hai) -3
sheesha Ho Ya Dil Ho
aakhir (Toot Jaata Hai) -4
lab Tak Aate Aate Haathon Se
sagar (Choot Jaata Hai) -3
sheesha Ho Ya Dil Ho

We Are The World

There comes a time when we need a certain call
When the world must come together as one
There are people dying
Oh, and it's time to lend a hand to life
The greatest gift of all

We can't go on pretending day by day
That someone, somehow will soon make a change
We're all a part of God's great big family
And the truth - you know love is all we need

We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
so let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me

Well, send them you your heart
So they know that someone cares
And their lives will be stronger and free
As God has shown us
By turning stone to bread
And so we all must lend a helping hand

We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
so let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me

When you're down and out
There seems no hope at all
But if you just believe
There's no way we can fall
Well, well, well, let's realize
That one change can only come
When we stand together as one

We are the world, we are the children
We are the ones who make a brighter day
so let's start giving
There's a choice we're making
We're saving our own lives
It's true we'll make a better day
Just you and me

2G stands for for second generation (2nd Gen):
  • 1st Gen = Analog
  • 2nd Gen = Digital
2G is an abbriviation for second-generation wireless telephone technology.  Second generation 2G cellular telecom networks were commercially launched on the GSM standard in Finland in the year 1991. Three primary benefits of 2G digital networks over the conventional analog technology were that phone conversations were digitally encrypted; 2G systems were significantly more efficient on the spectrum allowing for far greater mobile phone penetration levels.

After 2G was launched, the previous mobile telephone systems were retrospectively dubbed 1G (1st Gen). While radio signals on 1G networks are analog, and on 2G networks are digital, both systems use digital signaling to connect the radio towers to the rest of the telephone system.

Norwegian Nobel Committee awarding the Nobel Peace Prize for 2010 to Liu Xiaobo of China:

Press notification of the Norwegian Nobel Committee awarding the Nobel Peace Prize for 2010 to Liu Xiaobo , the non-violent activist for human rights, in China, is reproduced as follows for the visitors to “Discover Life”…

I Quote…

The Nobel Peace Prize for 2010

The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize for 2010 to Liu Xiaobo for his long and non-violent struggle for fundamental human rights in China. The Norwegian Nobel Committee has long believed that there is a close connection between human rights and peace. Such rights are a prerequisite for the "fraternity between nations" of which Alfred Nobel wrote in his will.

Over the past decades, China has achieved economic advances to which history can hardly show any equal. The country now has the world's second largest economy; hundreds of millions of people have been lifted out of poverty. Scope for political participation has also broadened.

China's new status must entail increased responsibility. China is in breach of several international agreements to which it is a signatory, as well as of its own provisions concerning political rights. Article 35 of China's constitution lays down that "Citizens of the People's Republic of China enjoy freedom of speech, of the press, of assembly, of association, of procession and of demonstration". In practice, these freedoms have proved to be distinctly curtailed for China's citizens.

For over two decades, Liu Xiaobo has been a strong spokesman for the application of fundamental human rights also in China. He took part in the Tiananmen protests in 1989; he was a leading author behind Charter 08, the manifesto of such rights in China which was published on the 60th anniversary of the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the 10th of December 2008. The following year, Liu was sentenced to eleven years in prison and two years' deprivation of political rights for “inciting subversion of state power". Liu has consistently maintained that the sentence violates both China's own constitution and fundamental human rights.

The campaign to establish universal human rights also in China is being waged by many Chinese, both in China itself and abroad. Through the severe punishment meted out to him, Liu has become the foremost symbol of this wide-ranging struggle for human rights in China.

Fast Walking Olympics: Race Walking: difference between Fast Walking and Running…

Olympic Fast Walking, Race Walking: difference between Fast Walking and Running…

What is the difference between Fast Walking and Running?  They walk as fast as we run and they walk as farther as 20 km to 50km. We just cannot imagine walking so very fast and for so very long distance with so very many restrictions.

Racewalking, or race walking, is a long-distance athletic event. It is a foot race; it is different from running because one of the feet must be in contact with the ground all times during the walk. The length of the Stride is kept at a low for achieving fast speed yet keeping one of the feet, all the time in contact with the ground.

On the other hand our bodies keep lifted above the ground each time we change our strides or in other words in between two steps while we run.

Firstly, it is kept in mind that the athlete's toe of the rear foot should not leave the ground until the heel of the front foot touches the ground.  Secondly the leg supporting the body should be kept straightened from the point of contact with the ground and remain straightened until the body passes over it.

Athletes keep their bodies low to the ground and pumping their arms folded at right angle and the elbow keeping close to their hips.

We may observe an exaggerated swivel of the hips of the walker that results out of the full rotation of the pelvis. Athletes aim to move the pelvis forward, and to minimize sideward motion in order to achieve maximum forward propulsion.

Fast walkers are tall in height and they maintain controlled weight of their body with enormous stamina and strong muscles. Watch this video and know more about racewalking.

Crazy Ideas: Standing in a queue How to keep patience while waiting in a long queue...

Crazy Ideas:
Standing in a queue...
How to keep patience while waiting in a long queue...

I tried all the common ways to keep my cool while standing waiting in a long queue. Reading a news paper or a magazine or playing a game on mobile did not work and could not control my restlessness.

Photobucket
Waiting in a queue in a restaurant...

Finally I resorted to counting the people standing ahead of me in the queue. I found this practice like another game that I played with myself. When I found the numbers reducing from 15 to 13 in 5 minutes I really felt contented.

You may also try this trick, game or exercise, whatever. I am sure you will feel far less anxiety while waiting in a long queue.
