Crazy Ideas: ICC World Cup Cricket 2011: Dos and Don’ts for Indian Team for Indo-Pak World Cup Semifinal at Mohali

Crazy Ideas:

ICC World Cup Cricket 2011: Dos and Don’ts for Indian Team for Indo-Pak World Cup Semifinal at Mohali

There are more chances of Indian victory as compared to the possibilities of Pakistan surging past in the so called World War – III. Indian batting lineup is the worlds best on date and Pakistan’s bowling is not that deadly as that was a few years back. Indian will have to follow certain doctrines that they know very well. Nevertheless let us jot down the probable Dos and Don’ts for our playing eleven to follow in the historic match with Pakistan that will wave green flag at Team India for fighting for the world cup in the final:

Dos:
  1. Keep cool and be patient
  2. Play for winning the match
  3. Play all the balls in the first 5 overs of your inning carefully and patiently
  4. New batsman to play the first 3 balls of the first over carefully
  5. Power play configuration is meant for making runs faster that includes singles also
  6. Be aggressive and play with full force and energy
  7. Keep your wickets intact as long as possible and utilize them in the last 10 overs for boundaries and sixes
Don’ts:
  1. Don’t make haste or lose your temperament
  2. Don’t play for entertaining the crowd
  3. Don’t go for predetermined boundaries or sixes in the first 5 overs of your inning
  4. New ballers should not go for boundaries or sixes in the first 3 balls of their first overs
  5. Don’t be careless and reckless because that is a sort of defensive fight

Crazy Ideas: ICC World Cup Cricket 2011: Shoaib Akhtar is not a threat for Indian batsmen

Crazy Ideas:

ICC World Cup Cricket 2011: Shoaib Akhtar is not a threat for Indian batsmen

There have been a lot of talks in the media that Pakistan team might field Shoaib Akhtar also known as 'Rawalpindi Express' in the playing eleven for the Indo-Pak world cup semifinal, for devastating the Indian batting lineup.

Nevertheless, Indian contingent and their team management should not worry about the world class Pakistany fast bowler as he might not unleash terror in the game as he used to do in the past. Secondly, the Indian team has the world’s strongest batsmen adequately capable to convert his deadly delivery into huge boundaries and sixes.

I think that inclusion of Shoaib Akhtar in the playing eleven of Pakistan team might turn out to be a blessing in disguise.

ICC World Cup 2011: India v/s Pakistan Semifinal match serves as diplomatic arena for both governments…

ICC World Cup 2011: India v/s Pakistan Semifinal match serves as diplomatic arena for both governments…

I felt real excitement when the news of Indian Prime Minster declaring his plans to witness the world cup semi final between India and Pakistan, scheduled to be played in Mohali on 30 March 2011 was flashed in the media.

As a common man I too felt like others that Indian politicians and ministers usually do not bother about sports and games and keep their attention at the vote bank. I felt a bit more excited with this news especially at a moment when the representatives of the government have been facing corruption charges in the cases of Commonwealth Games, 2G spectrum, wiki-leaks, Adarsh housing society and a dozen other disclosures that led to the opposition demand for the resignation of the Prime Minister.

Anyways, the presence of Indian Prime Minister at the venue would be the most encouraging factor for the Indian team and a morale booster for the players playing against their archrivals.

Nevertheless, my excitement extinguished with the news headlines about ‘cricket diplomacy’ played by the Indian government by inviting the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan for witnessing the semifinal. This news followed by pinching information that the Pakistan government was interacting with Pakistan Army on the issue whether the Head Of State and the Head Of Government of Pakistan should accept the invitation. I was not convinced with this theory and thought that it might be the brainchild of the media. I still feel that the President and the Prime Minister of any country are not supposed to consult their Armies for attending to international issues like watching a cricket match in a neighboring country

The third news that hit the headlines was about the Pakistan government releasing an Indian under-trial languishing in Pakistani jails for more than 27 – 30 years, possibly as a good will gesture and as an acknowledgement to the surprising invitation.

This news followed by another controversial action taken by the Home Minister of Pakistan by publically warning the Pakistani players not to indulge in sports crimes like match fixing. It was also said in the media that the telephones of the Pakistan team players were being tapped.

I, as a common citizen of India and a common fan of cricket, am feeling confused as to what all is going on in the Indian subcontinent. The bitter memories of Commonwealth Games are still fresh in our memory when the Indian politicians and ministers queued up for being photographed with the gold-medalists. We still remember that some Indian Olympic officials attended the Asian Games in China, in spite of the fact that they were facing corruption charges and inquiries against the alleged corruption done by them, to the tune of billions of Rupees, in the CWG.

I welcome the decision taken by the Indian Prime Minister for attending the Cricket World Cup semifinal and hope and wish that the spirits of the Indian team will surge to their heights ensuring their victory against Pakistan.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011: Quarterfinal Match between India v/s Australia… Call back Srisanth…

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011: Quarterfinal Match between India v/s Australia… Call back Srisanth…

The quarterfinal cricket world cup match going to be played today between India v/s Australia is going to be the last chance for continuing in the race for achieving the goal to win world cup. We should not leave any stone unturned in pursuit of exploiting every single resource available at our command.

The Right-arm fast-medium bowler Sreesanth is right there to make an attacking buddy to the Left-arm fast-medium bowler Zaheer Khan for breaking the firewall of Australian batting order. Srisanth played in the first match against Bangladesh and gave away 53 runs off 5 overs without taking any wicket. The team management followed a nonprofessional instance by excluding Srisanth from all other matches played thereafter.

This was a bit childish policy followed by the team management. If a player fails in one match; it does not mean that his professional life has ended. Srisanth should have been given chance in other matches also and his aggressive fast medium bowling and power fielding should have been exploited for the benefit of team India.

In today’s match Srisanth should be included in the playing eleven because the team India will have the following benefits by his presence:
  1. Left arm bowler Zahir Khan needs a right arm buddy for providing variations in fast medium bowling in order to distract the consistency in Australian batting lineup.
  2. Srisanth will be a valuable addition in the fielding personnel as he is young, fit and fast fielder.
  3. Srisanth’s temperament will be advantageous as his aggressive attitude will be an effective deterrent against the more aggressive Australians.
Srisanth should be in addition to the recently added bowler Ashwin.
