“Why this kolaveri kolavri kolaveri di… ” is the opening line of a song written in Tamilized erroneous English. The song has been composed in a down to earth simple tune and sung with funny English accent. This song is believed to be marketed through SMSs, emails and words of mouth that is a marketing trick popularly known as ‘viral marketing’*. The promotional video of this song has crossed 5 million hits mark on YouTube.

We have brought this video for the visitors to ‘Discover Life’…

              Shruti Hasan

This song is a part of Rajnikanth’s daughter Aishwarya’s directorial debute… ‘3’…! The Tamil film ‘3’ has Rajnikanh’s son-in-law Dhanush and Kamal Hasan’s daughter Shruti Hasan in the lead roles.

This video shows Dhanush recording a song in an audio recording studio along with his wife Aishwarya, heroine Shruti Haasan and the debutant music director Anirudh Ravichander.

It is reported in the media that Dhanush admits that the song has no meaning and is completely a nonsense (meaningless). He says "It feels nice when people are open with their praise for your work. I honestly didn't think the song would be such a craze. This has made me realize that people universally want only simple lyrics and simpler tune from filmmakers. My poor broken English lyrics, written in a silly tone, and borderline singing has proved to be advantageous for the success of this song," the national award-winning actor told a leading daily.

Here are the lyrics of the Kolaveri Di song:

Why this kolaveri kolavri kolaveri di
White skin-u girl-u girl-u,
girl-u heart-u black-u.
Eyes-u eyes-u meet-u meet-u, my future dark ...
Why this Kolaveri
Kolaveri Kolaveri Di,
Why this Kolaveri
Kolaveri Kolaveri Di

*Viral marketing: Viral marketing depends on a high pass-along rate from person to person. If a large percentage of recipients forward something to a large number of friends, the overall growth snowballs very quickly. If the pass-along numbers get too low, the overall growth quickly fizzles.
