Reviews TV shows: Don’t we Indians have any other talent accept singing and dancing:

Whenever I switch my TV on, I find TV shows with participants either singing or dancing. Most of the reality shows are either about singing or about dancing.  In fact the participants do not remain participants in their real role. They rather become performing artists of the reality program and those of the TV channel who produce and telecast the programs.

Don’t we Indians have any other talent accept singing and dancing?

The TV channels use their own script, costumes, orchestras, choreography and even dictate what all the participants are required to speak on camera. Even the laughs and cries of the participants look scripted as the emotional expressions shown on the TV shows look artificial.

I cannot say whether the armature/ nonprofessional participants are adequately paid for the same. Nevertheless, I am sure that the TV artists who are working in other TV serials must be getting good payments for participating in singing and dancing reality shows.  This is because their name, fame and star value give added TRP rating to the shows and to the TV channels.

I do not know how high TRP these song and dance programs generate. I can only count my own reactions on these programs and that are shock, irritation and disillusionment which eventually result in changing channels one after another.

I feel more disturbed when I find clips of the same songs and dances on the news channels also, who telecast featured news bulletins on TV serials and reality shows. Even the TV serials have resorted to insert songs and dances in the serials like films use ‘item numbers’.
