Bronze medalist Prasanta Karmarkar enters the history books of Indian sports on 6 October 2010:
Bronze medalist Prasanta Karmarkar made history in Indian sports by clinching the first ever medal in any swimming event: 
Prasanta Karmakar today entered in the  history books by winning the first ever medal for India.
   
He became the first Indian para-swimmer to get a medal when he clinched a bronze in the 50m freestyle event at Dr. SPM Acquatics Complex in CWG Delhi today. He recorded his personal best timing of 27.48s. Karmakar finished behind Simon Miller of England (26.70).
