Delhi 2010 CWG Commonwealth Games Discus throw gold-medallist Poonia ready to face Dani anywhere in the world:
Commonwealth Games gold medalist discus thrower Krishna Poonia has accepted world champion Dani Samuels’ challenge and is ready to compete with her for the $20,000 winner-takes-all contest, anywhere in the world. However her top priority is her preparations for the Asian Games, said her husband Virender Poonia.
Krishna Poonia has an all-time best discus throw of 63.69m, which she did in April whereas; Dani Samuels has her best of 65.84m which she threw in February.
Dani should not take it for granted that she would be able to throw 65.84m or more in the proposed challenge. At the same time she should not have any doubts that Krishna Poonia’s probable throw might also be more than her career best 63.69m.
In fact throwing such challenges is an unhealthy practice initiated by the Australian Discus Thrower. It would have been better for her if she competed in the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games and proved her excellence.
