CWG Commonwealth Games Delhi 2010: Krishna Poonia enters the history books of Indian sports…

The first ever Indian woman winning a gold medal in any international track and field event…

Krishna Poonia has entered the pages of the history of Indian sports by winning the first ever gold medal won by any Indian woman in an international track and field event. She won the gold medal by throwing discus at a distance of 61.61m in the Discus Throw (Women) event.

Simultaneously, another record has been created when the silver and the bronze have also been clinched by Harwant Kaur (60.66m) and Seema Antil (58.46m), respectively along with the gold won by Krishna Poonia (66.61m)in the same event.

The three women brought a rare honor to the nation when three tricolor flags rose up together and the Indian national anthem played, bringing the crowd in the stadium to a mad excitement.
