Krishna Poonia entered the history books of Indian sports by winning the gold medal for discus throw in the commonwealth games CWG Delhi 2010. At the same time the coach of Australia's discus thrower, Dani Samuels has thrown an open challenge to Krishna Poonia to compete with her.
The prestigious Diamond League has offered $10,000 prize money for the winner in the proposed showoff; whereas, another sponsor has doubled the prize money to $20,000 for the competitor who would throw the discus farther.
It looks a bit off-track and surely against the decent sportsman spirit that should have been maintained in the international sports world. Such statements by sports persons or by their coaches and officials could have been easily avoided.
